Purpose

Hi – I’m Jules Street, your host at SAVVY CHEF. Welcome to my world of taste, texture and cooking adventures! My commitment here is to offer récipes and techniques to take your cooking to the next level. From better plating techniques (how do you cook and transfer a filet of sole to the plate without it falling apart?) to getting that punch of extra flavor into your shrimp scampi, I want to help you cook with greater confidence and a smile – and bring a bit of surprise to the taste buds. I’ve been searching out and sharing culinary insights and techniques since boyhood. Growing up on the east coast in a family of four generations of restaurant and hotel owners and fresh produce provisioners, I first learned to cook at the knees of my parents and grandparents. Moving to northern California more than 30 years ago, I followed my passion into professional catering in the San Francisco Bay Area, preparing memorable dinner parties for clients in their homes. 

SAVVY CHEF is a continuation of this lifelong love affair with cooking and entertaining.  I have always enjoyed helping my fellow chefs, from beginners to experts, who are looking for that creative nuance that will add to their knowledge and culinary cache. Now I’d like to help you find that technique of preparation and presentation that changes a dish from good to flat-out fabulous – and that takes your cooking to the next level.
